Our guest today is Author Dan Perkins he will be discussing what Facebook is doing to their customers and our guest.
Facebook just announced that they would ban ads concerning the May 25 ballot issue in Ireland on the legalization of abortion. Facebook says it has learned the lessons of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and is working on changes to make election campaigns more transparent.
How much impact did Russia have on the outcome of the U.S. election? According to Ad Age, the Russians spent about $1.25 million per month during the campaign. On the other hand, the two presidential campaigns spent about $81 million on social media, or over 60 times more than the Russians.
Mark Zuckerberg in his testimony before Congress said, “Silicon Valley is extremely Left.” As an author who had his books banned from Facebook, I wonder just how many Facebook people, who set the policy on the banned advertising about the Irish election, are actually in support of the change? The announcement does not say that Facebook will ban all advertising, but they will decide what to ban on a case-by-case basis.
